Lois has been involved in the financial services industry since 1997. She owned a Chicago-based accounting firm for 13 years and transitioned it into a fee-only comprehensive financial planning firm after she and her husband were unable to hire a fee-only planner who could meet their needs. Understanding the wider business opportunity, Lois enrolled in Northwestern University’s CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ program and in 2011 opened Basil Financial Group in the Northcenter neighborhood of Chicago. Her work with clients is elevated beyond just the technical and encourages positive financial change in their lives. Basil Financial Group joined with Savant in 2023.

Lois earned a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Augustana College and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. She is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA).

Lois believes in giving back to her profession, her community, and her church. She served on the Board of the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners for four years and as its president in 2017. She is very active in her church, singing in the choir, served as treasurer, and has travelled to Appalachia five times to assist with emergency home repair.

Lois and her husband Greg have two daughters – Hannah, a financial advisor at Savant, and Hope, the executive director of a non-profit organization – and one granddaughter who is the light of her life. Lois enjoys bike riding, traveling, and visiting botanic gardens.
